Cycling solves so many problems at once: it keeps you fit, it’s fast, cheap, reliable and good for the environment too! Getting on your bike is one of the easiest ways to keep fit. It’s a lot cheaper than gym membership and much more useful.
Walking regularly will make you feel good, and is good for your health. For adults, 30 minutes of walking five days a week dramatically cuts the risk of developing heart disease, diabetes, obesity and some cancers. It also reduces cholesterol, lowers high blood pressure and is good for your sense of well-being.
Walk to Work Week
Monday 9th May 2011
National Walk to Work week, 9-13th May 2011, is the ideal time to give walking a go. An easy form of exercise requiring no special equipment, walking can be fitted in on your way to or from work, at lunchtime or throughout the day. It's a great way to ensure that being desk-bound at work doesn't stop you being active.During the Week you'll be able keep track of your walking online, see your miles walked and calories burned mount up, and earn online 'rewards' for your achievements. You can even get some competition going amongst your colleagues to see who can be "top walker" in your office.
