Emergency first aid

Would you like to first aid training?

Training for emergency first aid is a free one-day accredited course offered to our volunteer walk leaders and off road support riders.  The training is a day of practical advice and is run locally in areas where we regularly deliver our walks and cycles.

The Emergency First Aider’ role

This training is ideal if you want to learn first aid protocols and resuscitation skills; how to deal with minor conditions and those that can become more serious; and how to resuscitate a casualty.
This course will teach you everyday first aid skills, which are invaluable when accidents happen around the home - and when you're out and about!

During the training session, Volunteers will cover the following emergency life support techniques:

  • Communication and casualty care
  • Priorities of first aid and managing the scene
  • Looking after yourself and the casualty
  • Adult resuscitation
  • Treatment of choking a choking casualty
  • Treatment of severe bleeding and chest pains
  • Treatment of an unconscious casualty
  • Treatment of fainting, bites and stings, sprains and strains
